“They were previously considered extremely effective, but they failed to demonstrate their reliability during the Ukraine conflict,” Stepanov said.

The analyst noted that these systems are extremely expensive, meaning that expectations for their performance are very high.

A single Patriot battery can cost around $1 billion, including radar systems, launchers, and interceptor missiles.

“When a battery costs a billion dollars and fails to fulfill its tasks, this raises doubts,” Stepanov said.

He added that questions about reliability could influence the decisions of current and future buyers of American military equipment.

Global Demand for Air Defense Systems Increasing

The war in Ukraine, rising tensions in the Middle East, and growing geopolitical rivalries have significantly increased global demand for advanced air defense systems.

Countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East are investing heavily in missile defense technology to protect against drone attacks, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles.
