Iran Launches Missile and Drone Strikes Across Middle East

Iran carried out a series of overnight missile and drone attacks across several Middle Eastern countries, including Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf states, in response to a new wave of Israeli airstrikes.

The escalation comes shortly after Iran’s Assembly of Experts officially appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new Supreme Leader, following the death of his father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during earlier U.S.–Israeli strikes.

Iranian officials said the leadership transition ensures the continuity of the Islamic Republic’s political and ideological system during the intensifying conflict.

IRGC Claims Attacks on US and Israeli Bases

According to statements from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iranian forces carried out coordinated strikes against multiple targets across the region.

The IRGC said its aerospace forces launched powerful attacks on five U.S. strategic bases in the Middle East, including locations near the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet.

Iranian forces also targeted Israeli military bases near Tel Aviv and Haifa, the IRGC said in a statement reported by Iranian media.

Officials described the operation as part of the 31st wave of “Operation True Promise 4,” involving the use of super-heavy missiles and drones.

Attacks Reported Across Several Countries

The regional escalation has affected several countries across the Middle East.

• Bahrain: At least 32 people were reportedly injured following missile strikes.

• Iraq: A U.S. base near Erbil was targeted.

• Kuwait: Iranian forces claimed to have struck a U.S. helicopter base at Al-Adiri.

• Qatar: The country’s air defense systems reportedly intercepted incoming missiles targeting its territory.

Iran also claimed to have attacked a radar installation linked to a U.S. military base in Israel and equipment storage facilities used by American forces.

Israel Launches New Airstrikes in Iran

At the same time, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that it launched new waves of airstrikes targeting infrastructure in Tehran, Isfahan, and southern Iran.

The Israeli military described the operation as a large-scale attack against what it called “infrastructure of the Iranian regime.”

The strikes come as Israel continues its broader military campaign aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities.

Trump Reacts to Iran’s New Supreme Leader

U.S. President Donald Trump responded to the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei by saying he was “not happy” with the decision.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said he would closely monitor developments surrounding Iran’s new leadership.

“We’ll see what happens,” Trump said, according to media reports.

Trump had previously criticized the possibility of Mojtaba Khamenei becoming Iran’s leader and has called for major political changes within the Iranian government.

Regional Tensions Continue to Rise

The conflict has already spread across multiple fronts, including Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Iraq, and the Persian Gulf.

Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon reportedly hit two civil defense posts, leaving casualties among rescue workers.

Health officials in Lebanon said the attacks targeted emergency crews responding to earlier strikes.

The latest developments indicate that the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States is rapidly expanding beyond traditional battle lines.

With attacks now reaching multiple countries across the Middle East, analysts warn that the region could be moving toward a broader regional war involving several states and military alliances.
