Iran Rejects Ceasefire and Talks with US, Vows to Continue Until Strategic Goals Are Met

Iran has rejected a proposed ceasefire with the United States, calling any negotiations at this stage of the conflict “illogical,” according to reports from Fars News Agency citing a source in Tehran.

Iranian officials reportedly made it clear that hostilities will only end once the country achieves its “strategic goals.” Rather than accepting a temporary truce, Tehran is said to be seeking a long-term resolution to the conflict.

The reports come amid claims from Western media that Washington has been attempting to establish a one-month ceasefire. It was also suggested that former US President Donald Trump had proposed a multi-point plan aimed at ending the war. However, Iranian sources insist that no such negotiations are currently taking place and that backchannel efforts have been rejected.

Meanwhile, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi indicated that potential talks could occur soon in Islamabad, Pakistan. These discussions, if they happen, are expected to address missile programs, regional militias aligned with Iran, and broader security guarantees.

On the military front, conflicting narratives continue to emerge. US officials claim that their forces have successfully intercepted all threats targeting American assets, including reports of missile attacks on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Iranian media, however, claims the vessel was struck.

At the same time, Tehran has stated that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains open for “non-hostile” vessels, signaling a controlled but tense situation in one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.

Oil markets have already reacted to the uncertainty, with prices experiencing noticeable fluctuations following the latest developments.

The situation remains highly volatile as both sides maintain firm positions, raising concerns about a prolonged conflict in the region.
