Iran has issued a strong warning that it could retaliate against energy infrastructure across the Middle East if its own oil and gas facilities come under attack.
A representative of Khatam al-Anbiya, the central headquarters of Iran’s armed forces, said the country would respond forcefully to any strike on its ports or energy infrastructure. The statement was reported by Iran’s state television.
According to the official, even a limited attack on Iranian energy facilities could lead to a large-scale retaliation affecting oil and gas infrastructure across the region that is connected to the United States and its Western allies.
“We warn the aggressive government and all its allies that the slightest attack on the energy infrastructure and ports of the Islamic Republic of Iran will trigger a crushing and destructive response,” the representative said.
He added that if such an attack were to occur, Iran could target oil and gas facilities across the Middle East that are considered strategically important to the United States and its partners.
The warning comes amid growing tensions in the Middle East and increasing concerns about the security of global energy supplies.
Energy infrastructure in the region plays a critical role in the global oil and gas market, and any disruption could have significant economic consequences worldwide.
Analysts say threats involving energy facilities are particularly serious because the Middle East remains one of the world’s most important energy-producing regions.
If energy infrastructure across the region were targeted, it could lead to major disruptions in global oil and gas supply chains, potentially affecting energy prices and international markets.
For now, the situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent further escalation.
