Iran’s New Supreme Leader Threatens US and Israel With Retaliation in First National Address

Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has issued a strong warning to the United States and Israel in his first national address since taking power, pledging retaliation for victims killed in recent military strikes.

In a message published by his official press service, Khamenei said Iran would respond to the attacks and vowed that the deaths of Iranian victims would not go unanswered.

“I assure everyone that we will not hesitate to avenge the blood of your martyrs,” Khamenei said during the address.

Calls for Compensation and Strategic Pressure

The new Iranian leader also demanded compensation from Washington and Tel Aviv for damages caused by the attacks. According to Khamenei, Iran could use strategic tools such as the Strait of Hormuz as leverage in the ongoing confrontation.

He indicated that the critical shipping route could remain closed as part of Tehran’s strategy during the conflict.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime passages for oil transport, and any disruption could significantly impact global energy markets.

Warning of Possible New Fronts

Khamenei also warned that Iran could open additional fronts in the region if hostilities continue. He called on countries in the Middle East to close American military bases operating in their territories.

At the same time, he said Iran remains open to maintaining constructive relations with neighboring countries.

Leadership Change After Assassination

Mojtaba Khamenei assumed leadership after the assassination of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on February 28. Iran declared a 40-day national mourning period following the killing.

For more than a week, the country was led by an interim council before Mojtaba Khamenei formally took control of the leadership.

Ongoing Conflict

The conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel has now entered its second week, with both sides continuing to exchange strikes.

Israel has stated that its objective is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, Washington has warned it could target Iran’s military capabilities and has called for political change in the country.

Iranian officials, however, insist that Tehran is prepared to defend itself and currently sees little reason to return to negotiations.

The situation remains tense as the conflict risks expanding across the Middle East.
